  • 1.  Raster to TAB to IMG?

    Posted 07-02-2018 06:04

I'm trying to upload a JPEG file to a Garmin GPS as a base map I can view when on a site. I started by importing and georegistering the JPEG in MIP17. This produced the usual TAB file. To be viewed on the GPS, the file needs to be an IMG file, but FME translator doesn't want to translate the TAB file to IMG.

How can I georeference the JPEG and upload it as a base map in the GPS?

    Hi,

In MapInfo 17.0, we have added a Warp tool which you can use to georeference the JPEG file. To use this tool refer the MapInfo help.

    Thanks

Just to add you can access the tool from the Raster tab under the Raster Tools drop down. This requires the Advanced version of Pro.

Hi all, the issue is not bringing IN the image, it's exporting it OUT to the GPS. I can import and georef an image no problem.

Perhaps use either the "Convert" operation or the "Export Image" operation (under "Raster Operations") to convert the geolocated JPEG to a GeoTIFF. Perhaps FME will be able to convert the GeoTIFF to an IMG raster.
