GeoEnrichment datasets are prebuilt address data with the pbKey and are deployed in any database environment

Aside from basic manipulation, we haven't had to dive very deep into raster data. Our PB partner is always there to help massage our data when the need arises.

Maybe we should learn more about it!

Raster is particularly useful in data modeling. Thematic mapping, which is what most users do with desktop mapping is more absolute in nature, using defined boundaries to visualize data. With raster, the presentation of a continuous surface provides users the ability to understand geospatial extents without boundaries. Features of the Earth’s surface are not bound by administrative boundaries and therefore analyses cannot be either.

Geographic risk modelling relies on raster data more than ever before as many perils like flood rely heavily on LiDar imagery to inform models. GIS Pros understand that raster data can be interacted with in similar ways as vector data, but there is a learning curve for new GIS users and generalized business analysts.?

Raster tools can be used for site selection analysis instead of traditional vector analysis. For example, in MapInfo Pro Advanced "heat maps" can be quickly generated from customer data on multiple attributes at once instead of aggregating to blockgroup or grids and then applying a theme.

The launch of both mutil-sensor satellites (multispectral, synthetic radar, etc.) and smallsats/cubesats has increased the availability of Earth observation imagery. MapInfo Pro Advanced is particularly well-suited to handle large volume data with our Multi-Resolution Raster (MRR) file format as well as its modeling capabilities (see the CALCULATOR function)

we have only just scratched the surface, I think Raster is being used in some amazing ways, with one recent customer we used Raster, SSA and LIM to build a digital terrain model and visualize an interactive UI in SSA. This is now something we are now looking at bringing directly in to the SSA and LIM products..

Here are three views of the same LIDAR raster created with MapInfo Pro Advanced - just to give you an idea of what we are talking about.

    Elevation information

    Intensity

    And finally, the RGB values

We are also in the midst of translating pictures and raster imagery from both forecasted and real-time weather events into vector data with associated values related to the event. This will support analyses across insurance and finance for understanding book of business exposure immediately before, during, and after a perilous event.?

@Corey Graft? I think its a good idea to look further at MRR, we are in the process of enhancing the uses within both Spectrum Spatial and Spatial Analyst. Current examples include heatmaps, digital terrain models... we have some demo videos in the SSA user community.

We use the GeoEnrichment process to incorporate results from raster data so customers can use them more easily. For example we take the NED raster data and use it to find elevation results such as an elevation profile to closest water bodies.

    See the image below:

I am exploring Raster Analysis these days as part of retails site section. Using raster analysis in Map Info is made easy so that power user can do the rast analysis in two clicks. Recently, I had an opportunity to use the heat map Rast analysis to analyse the density of customers, POI, Competitors for the detail site selection.

All thanks to LI360 for the senses density analysis example. Attached screen shot is the heat map analysis for POI density in drive time catchment area. Please ignore my ammature Rast analysis skills.
