    Sometimes we tend to forget to highlight some of the small improvements in the new releases of MapInfo Pro.

    During December, I'll create a  number of posts focusing on exactly this: the small improvements that we have made in MapInfo Pro v2019.

    Accessing Regional Settings and Language details

    On the backstage that you can access via the PRO tab, we have now added some details about the currently running MapInfo Pro session.

    Using the Copy control at the top, you can copy all the details of your MapInfo Pro including locale settings, license details, and version details. This can sometimes be required when you reach out to our technical support. Make sure to Paste Special to keep the formatted text.

    You can find details about the number and date format which is taken from the Regional Settings controlled by Windows.

    You can also see information about the locale for the interface as well as the application itself. These can be controlled via the application config, MapInfoPro.exe.config, that can be found in the installation folder. The language of the interface can be overwritten using a launch parameter on the shortcut that starts MapInfo Pro.

    Here is an example of the parameter for starting MapInfo Pro 2019 with a Danish user interface once that gets released early next year. It's the "UiLocale" parameter that tells MapInfo Pro what language to use in the interface:

    "C:\MapInfo\2019\MapInfoPro.exe" -UiLocale=da

    Here is a list of the other User Interface languages that will be supported with MapInfo Pro v2019 over time. These were also all supported with MapInfo Pro v17.0:

    • zh-CN: Chinese (Simplified)

    • cs: Czech - Czech Republic

    • da: Danish - Denmark

    • nl: Dutch - The Netherlands

    • en: English - United States

    • fi: Finnish - Finland

    • fr: French - France

    • de: German - Germany

    • he: Hebrew - Israel

    • it: Italian - Italy

    • ja: Japanese - Japan

    • pl: Polish - Poland

    • pt: Portuguese - Brazil

    • ru: Russian - Russia

    • es: Spanish - Spain

    • sv: Swedish - Sweden

    • tr: Turkish - Turkey
