Why have my queries disappeared from SSA?

  • 1.  Why have my queries disappeared from SSA?

    Posted 05-30-2018 01:58

    Hi,

I have logged into spectrum and have found that on the left hand side under the search, my predefined queries that I have already written are no longer displayed there for use like they used to be. I don't know where they have disappeared too! When I log into the Admin Console and look under Query Management, they are all still there so they should be displaying.

See AttachmentSee AttachmentI have just come back from leave so not sure if I am having a moment or if something is wrong.

    Hello Jemima,

Disappearing of Admin defined queries is not expected. If Role has access to the queries, they are expected to be visible. Something must have gone wrong here. Can you please check

    1. In case admin login into SSA, are queries visible?
    2. Can you please ensure, that below highlighted property is checked in Admin Console. See Attachment

    Thanks,

    Hi Jemima?,

Just in case you forgot try clicking into the search box, the predefined queries list only shows if you first click in the search box.

    cheers

Hi @Rahul Mahajan? ! Thank you for your advose but unfortunately they are not appearing when logged in as an admin either and the box is ticked.

@Peter van Dijk? I clicked in the search box and still no queries.

    Hi Jemima,

I suspect this problem could be browser caching related issue. Just to verify my hypothesis, would it be possible for you to try SSA in some other web browser or if you are using Chrome, then try running SSA in Incognito window (CTRL+SHIFT+N). In case you use firefox, you may try private mode (CTRL+SHIFT+P)

@Rahul Mahajan? The incognito worked! But is there a way around this? I don't think its ideal to advise the entire organisation to browse incognito to use SSA

    Hi,

I am attaching screenshot to demonstrate steps to clear cache

    1. While in Chrome browser, press (CTRL + SHIFT + DEL)
    2. Select the check boxes as shown in the image below and click "CLEAR DATA"

    See Attachment

Others users are not expected to perform above steps, "admin defined queries" should work normally for them. For now, this looks to be a machine specific issue.

    Hi @Rahul Mahajan?

I followed your steps and cleared my Cache and it worked, I logged in as an Admin and my quick searches are back!

    See Attachment

    But...

I then asked my work colleague to log in as a role. Her quick searches were still missing. We then followed your steps and cleared her cache as well. Still nothing. I have double checked the settings for that particular map configuration and it has all the correct boxes ticked. All of the map configs have the correct settings.

    See Attachment

When I log in as that role on my computer I still can't see the quick searches, but I can see them as an admin now that I have cleared the cache. I have logged in as all the roles and non of them display quick searches.

Is there another setting I have missed that enables roles to see these? Everyone could see them last week and I haven't changed anything.

    Hi Jemima,

As the quick searches are accessible as an admin user, could you confirm if appropriate permissions are in place for other users. For that, you need to login into Spectrum Spatial Analyst Admin Console & click on "Permissions" tab.

    See Attachment

Assigned Roles section should have the role for the user that is logged into SSA. In case it is not there, you have to move the corresponding role there & save it.

Please feel free to reach out PB technical support for quick response.

@Guru Dutt?  I have had a look and all permissions are correct, this may be an issue for tech support.

Hi Jemima, Maybe one approach could be to remove all permissions, save the changes then add them again. This has worked for similar in the past, as has restarting the server as this clears all the java processes and refreshes the Java spring network. cheers Peter van Dijk | GIS Specialist DDI 03 307 7797 <http://ashburtondc.govt.nz> [Ashburton District Council]<http://www.ashburtondc.govt.nz><http://www.ashburtondc.govt.nz>

    Hey Jemima,

Funny thing, just two days ago I was asked about why all queries removed from our "All Data" map. We have a number of maps in which have been cloned from the base map template which we call All Data, All the other maps are fine and have retained their queries, however for some reason ALL queries have dropped off the base template. Today we are having the V12.2 upgrade implemented, so will chase up next week if they are back or carry out maybe what Peter has mentioned above..

Hi Tony, When you assign user permissions to map overlays or queries etc an auth file is created for each item, the auth file can be opened in a text editor and other users added following the format within the file, essentially its xml markup. I have had issues with some map overlay with users not being able to be assigned to them -- and fixed them that way. cheers
