Working in the Commercial space down here in Australia the key attributes you mention are vital, including the other business descriptors such as Business Line, Trade Division, Group, Class and Sub-Class. Brand, Trade and Franchise Name are also important where available.
Of late, we are being asked more for the type of secondary attributes you mention. In particular the Employee_Here , Employee_Count and Sales-Volume attributes. An example of where this has been relevant is an Insurance Broker looking to identify Head Office locations of businesses as opposed to the branch locations.
The other attribute that is valuable is the Alt_Industry_Code which provides the local version of business codes for reference to help filter/select specific business categories against known local codes.

With the Pitney Bowes World Premium Points of Interest database, there are 70 attributes that are compiled to create the spatial data set. The key attributes allow the user to search and filter the data to successfully identify the locations or business types they are looking to identify. Attributes such as NAME and SIC8 and ADDRESS are key attributes.
Secondary attributes are important, but often only applicable for specific use cases (such as EMPLOYEE_COUNT)
