Data might not just be a picture, it could be some other binary format which may not be suitable as an asset type itself.

    Hello!

What is the business case for uploading raw binary files as a field type?  Currently that functionality is not on our roadmap, but I'm interested in your use case.

    Thanks,

    Mandy

My business case is that there could be many customers with different needs. One could be that they do not want to link to external sources for some data, and that if they can upload the raw file to their data catalogue, that would make much more sense because then the raw files can also be seen through the audit process.

Raw files can be pdfs, so things such as compiled reports can be viewed within the govern catalogue.

Thanks for the clarification Patrick.   D360 Govern is not intended to be a repository for the actual data, just the metadata.   We have no plans at this time to support attachments.  We understand the need for access to the actual data, and do recommend using the link field type to get there.
