Stratus Connect contained an &search= parameter. This allowed a search such as postcode or street name and number to be included in the URL (Stratus Connect example: http://maps.southwark.gov.uk/connect/southwark.jsp?search=se1 2qh).

I made a lot of use of &search=, but it doesn't seem to work (or is not included) in SSA.

Group: does anyone know what the SSA is, please

PBS: If the equivalent of Stratus' &search= parameter does not exist for SSA, can one be introduced at the earliest possible opportunity, please.

    Many thanks,

    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,

I think that might have been a specific customisation done for Southwark. However there is a URL API for SSA which you could potentially use, see this...

    http://support.pb.com/help/analyst/12.1/admin_guide/en/index.html#appendix/appendixB.html

You could use the queryTable, queryColumn and queryValues parameters to run a search in the URL, this would be on a data layer as opposed to the address search though. So if you have a layer with your addresses in, you could potentially do that.

    Hope this helps

    Chris

    Thanks for that, Chris.

The problem with various query parameters is that:

    1)

I would want the equivalent of &search to work internally and externally. No problem internally as I have a LLPG point layer for staff users. But this would only work externally if I had an address point dataset (LLPG) in the public facing version, which for PSMA reasons I can't do.

    2)

Most postcodes cover multiple addresses. So if I run a query calling on, say, SE15 4AW I would get back a query of 25 points. The beauty of &search in Stratus Connect (and I appreciate it may have been a customisation via RIA) is that all you’d need to add is &search=SE15 4AW and it would effectively place SE15 4AW into the search box, run a search on SE15 4AW and then return the first SE15 4AW it finds with a with a map marker.

    Here’s a Stratus Connect example: http://maps.southwark.gov.uk/connect/southwark.jsp?tooltip=yes&search=SE15 4AW

It would be great to have this kind if functionality in SSA.

A further thought on this, Chris. Surely the &search parameter only worked because it was available within RIA/Stratus Connect. So, although it may have been a customisation to draw it out of Stratus/RIA it must have been in there in the first place.
