  • 1.  2gb limit on .tab file

    Hello all,

    What is the status of .tab file size limits in Mapinfo 17.0.3? Can it consume a tab file bigger than 2gb? Or if it is presented with a .tab file larger than 2gb does it just present what it can and ditch the rest?

    Hi Stuart,

    If you create Extended MapInfo .tab file (you can select it in UI), you will not be limited to 2 gb file size. Extended .tab file format is supported since version 15.2.

    Hi Stuart
    You can set all new tables to be Extended in the Options and System Settings Preferences
    PreferencesI have a 160GB vector file - it just takes a little longer to display and query!
