    Spectrum™ Technology Platform Release Announcement – 2018.2.0

    Spectrum™ Technology Platform Release 2018.2.0 is now available. This release contains many enhancements, including:

    Spectrum™ Technology Platform Server

    • Enhanced trust certificate setup and overall management of certificate authorities
    • Added integration with Ping Identity SSO - we currently have SSO through AD FS and have added Ping Identity

    Big Data Integration Module

    • Added Hive JDBC Driver for ​batch processing​

    Business Steward Module

    • Added Section 508-compliant accessibility option to Exception Editor
    • Added single record/small batch optimization option to Exception Monitor
    • Added History Port to Read Exceptions to capture exception record change history

    Data and Address Quality for Big Data SDK

    • Address Quality - Added support for U.S. addresses in Global Address Validation
    • Data Quality - Added a Candidate Finder feature
    • Added support for Spark Datasets

    Data Hub Module

    • Added several Administration Utility commands
    • Added ability to run scheduled incremental backups

    Enterprise Routing Module

    • Improved routing solution that finds the closest segment with given endpoints to avoid restricted segments
    • Enhanced matrix service single request, making it a multi-threaded service request to improve performance

    Enterprise Tax Module

    • Parsed Address Elements Returns - Added Parsed Elements as a return data option to Assign Info in Enterprise Designer. ​​The Parsed Elements output fields contain the individual components of a standard street address line, such as unit number, unit type, house number, street name, etc.
    • Administration Utility Commands - Added commands that manage Enterprise Tax Module databases to the Administration Utility

    Global Addressing Module 

    • Added support for the United States including USPS CASS-certified address standardization and validation
    • Added support for multiple address line processing for the United States; also added direct access to United States address information with a new U.S. Database Lookup application
    • Added support for Canada addresses in the Global Address Parser stage

    Geocoding Modules

    Enterprise Geocoding Module - USA

    • Improved single-line address matching to prefer street-level matching over P.O. box-level matching and to better recognize street names that resemble city names
    • Improved single-line Point of Interest (POI) matching to better recognize and match POIs that contain city and state names

    Global Geocoding Module

    • PBLocator REST API for ArcGIS option provides Pitney Bowes Geocoding services within an ESRI environment
    • Custom Dataset Builder utility creates new geocoding datasets with your own data from MapInfo TAB files
    • pbKey™ Fallback for USA preference returns a pbKey™ unique identifier from the nearest Master Location Data (MLD) location when an address is matched to a non-MLD candidate 

    Location Intelligence Module 

    • Please note that previous versions of Spectrum™ Spatial Analyst are not supported on Spectrum™​ Technology Platform 2018.2.0. Customers who have deployed Spectrum™ Spatial Analyst should ensure they also upgrade to version 2018.2.0 after upgrading the Spectrum Platform. For details please review the Release Notes and Installation Guide for Spectrum™​ Spatial Analyst 2018.2.0.
    • Spatial Manager now allows viewing and managing permissions on named resources and folders
    • Custom symbols can now be copied to a folder outside the Spectrum deployment where they will be preserved on upgrade. These custom symbols are shown in Spatial Manager when applying a style override.
    • The Map Uploader and Spatial Manager now allow sub-admin users to log in. Sub-admin users can upload into the repository folders for which they are granted write permission, and can manage named resources in those folders. 

    Machine Learning Module

    ·       Added Regularization feature to Linear Regression and Logistic Regression stages

    ·       Added Model Metrics Port to model creation stages to capture assessment metrics within dataflows

    ·       Added Model Type and Creation Time fields to Model Assessment Metrics

    Metadata Insights

    • Modeling - Suggestive mapping allows you to connect and link logical models with physical data stores powered by semantic classification
    • Profiling - Suggestive actions allow you to cleanse and improve the quality of profiled data
    • Discovery and Business Glossary - With integration of Discovery and Business Glossary, Metadata Insights can now:
      • Build and manage a glossary of business terms to be used across organization
      • Discover information assets of your enterprise and create a catalog​

    SAP® Module

    • Added support for address validation and deduplication for these transaction entities: Sales Order, Purchase Order, FI Invoices, and Work Order

    Smart Data Quality Module – New!

    • This new machine learning-based solution suggests match rules and match keys to optimize the entity resolution process

    Universal Addressing Module

    • The Spectrum™ Product Database (SPD) now supports UAM Canada, UAM International, and UAM US

    this is very useful, thank you. As this note goes out to customers mainly, we sometimes fail to deliver this to partners and even internal employees. Glad that you posted it here!

    I was not aware that the Smart Data Quality Module is already part of the GA version. This is excellent news as I believe we have a candidate to try this out in real.

    Here are some of the use cases which can be accomplished by the personas mentioned below using Metadata Insights:

    1. Data Steward/Information Steward

      a. Implement Data Governance by defining Business terms and KPI's using Business Glossary. Help the stake holders collaborate , approve, review and making the Glossaries accessible to entire business for consumption.

     b. Understand Lineage of Data.
     
      
    2. Data Manager
     
      a. Connect to enterprise Data , search where the PII data is stored using Discovery powered by Semantic classification ,understand the quality of data and make it fit for purpose using Data Profiling.
     
      b. Map the Logical Model(representation of Business use case) with Physical Data stores.

     
    3. Business Analyst
     
         a. Capture Business requirements using a intuitive canvas based Modeling capabilities integrated with the
             Spectrum Data Management platform instead of spreadsheet, word document or email.
     
         b. Access and find critical data elements to accomplish those Business initiatives and requirements.
