    Hello all,

I hope you are all safe and snuggly at home in your home office.

for the love of.... and after 15 years of using MIpro I still do not understand how to handle the layout window.

When I add a Map Frame in the Layout it will give me my map based upon the zoom level within the Map Window.
I have to change the zoom in the Mapwindfow that so that my entire country fits.

But How can I tell the layout window that what I see now in a smaller frame should fill out the entire page. When I pull on the frame handles the frame gets bigger but not the content.

I seem to remember something about activate...

Honestly this is not straight forward for a simple bloke like me! :)

    Cheers

    Georges

    Hi Georges,

Please try the below steps and see if this works for you:

Go to the Layout ribbon > New Layout
    Draw a New frame
From the Layout > Insert section > Click on New Map

You will get the 'New Map' window with all the available  Map layers. Choose the layer you want in your Layout. Click OK.

Double click inside the Frame and from the context menu, you can change the view.

    Regards,
    Shweta

    Hi Georges
I find it useful to forget how you used to do printing in old MapInfo and learn the new way. It is quite different!
Rather than try and compare, just go with the flow of the new versions. Eventually you will like it....
Start with some of the videos on YouTube like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L8-4JESEwc
    Hope that helps

Hello Georges - if you're in v15, I would right-click on the Layout window map frame, click Activate in the pop-up menu, right-click again on the Layout map frame and then click Change View in the pop-up menu so you can change the scale to zoom in or out.  You can also pick "Preserve current zoom" or "Preserve current scale".  Once the layout window's activated, you can also drag it around using the Pan tool, move labels etc., as this is a clone of the map window - it loses the link to the map window once in the layout window.

    Is this what you meant?

Best wishes and Happy (safe) Easter,
    Jane

There's a Map Option that controls this behavior, Georges.

Under When Resizing Window, select Preserve Current Scale.
