  • 1.  Excel File - Detect Field Types

    Detect Field Types is on by default in the Excel File name - as far as I can see there is no equivalent to this field in Lavastorm - all fields are input as either string or unicode. 

    This leads to incompatibility when importing legacy graphs that are designed to function assuming all such fields are a single common type.

    Although after import I can manually update all excel nodes on all data flows to set this to off it is laborious and worse means that I cannot use a single common graph across both Lavastorm and Dataverse.

    I would like a system wide setting to configure this field to off by default.

    Hi Dave,

    I was reviewing the product enhancement suggestions and I wondered whether you had seen the note in the release notes back for the contents of Dataverse 3.1.4 (see P.35) that indicates the relevant configuration property that controls this behavior:

    Or, to revert to the previous behavior for all Excel File nodes, copy the following text into your cust.prop file:
    ls.brain.node.excelFile.inferTypes=false
