  • 1.  How do I overlay a legend on the map window so it's always in the top left corner?

    Hi, 

    How can I add a legend to overlay on the actual map window (not in the layout designer) so it always sits on the top left corner in v16 64 bit?

    I used to have it in the 32 bit version and don't remember how it was done then.

    I sometimes just produce a jpeg of the map window and need the legend to be there.

    That was the Legend Manager tool under the old Tool Manager in 32-bit MapInfo. There is a function to Embed Legend and once it is embedded in the Map Window you can drag it to any position.? Neat. legends.mbx is the program to look for.

    I have tried to run it in 64-bit MapInfo but it doesn't look like it works.

    One for the "Suggestions" page...

    One way to do this in v16.0, is to create a layout with a map in a frame and insert your legends in a frame on top of the map.

    In order to make this work nicely when outputting it to an image, I have set the paper size to 25 by 25 cm and set the margins to 0 via the Page Setup and then the Printer Properties (I used the MapInfo PDF Printer Driver)

    @John Ievers?, thanks for the reply. I'll check it out and see if I can get it to work in v16.

    @Peter Horsbøll Møller?, thanks as always! I know it can be done via the Layout Designer, problem is it is needed specifically in the map window in this case. How about you edit the MBX for everyone's benefit? :)
