If you have a detailed vector base map, try and avoid using the colour black for your linework. Especially if you have a lot of detail in your base map e.g. large scale mapping, then black lines give the impression of a very cluttered and busy map. Instead, choose a shade of grey and notice the difference.

is to permanently change one or more styles of one or more objects in a layer or a table. 

This would allow multiple styles and a permanent change of those styles. Using style override by double clicking on a layer in MapInfo Pro's Layer Control > checking the Style Override Box, applies a temporary style change and would apply the same style change to every object in the layer. A style override would also needed to be saved as part of a MapInfo Workspace in order for the Style Override change to stay applied.
