MapInfo Pro

Hi all,

Someone know if there is a trick (modifying the .wor file in Notepad or similar) to open workspaces between v11.5 and v16? I have the latest but my colleagues don't so I would like to know if we still can work together creating workspaces in our correspondent versions.

Hi Monica,

If you open the .Wor (from the workspace location) in Notepad, you will see something similar to the following at the top....

!Workspace

!Version 1600

!Charset WindowsLatin1

--------------------------------------------------------

Change the Version stamp from 1600 to 1150 and click File > Save in notpad. Then try opening the .Wor in MapInfo Pro 11.5

Please note: (backwards compatibility issues with new features)

If you have used any of the new features such as legend designer in the workspace using MapInfo 16, It may not open up successfully in MapInfo 11.5.

Good post, Matt...Important to note that the version stamp in a tab or wor is the earliest version of MapInfo Pro that fully support the features used in that table or workspace.

Most times, editing the version stamp works as a valid solution but not always.

There could be scenarios where editing that version stamp may have negative and unpredictable effects....
