MapInfo Pro

Hello all,

The MapInfo Pro license server will be unavailable from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm USA Eastern time on the 30th July 2017.

For those of you in other parts of the world here is the outage in other time zones:

UK: 11:00 am to 11:00 pm

India: 4:30 pm to 4:30 a.m (Monday 31st July)

Australia East coast (8:00 pm to 8:00 am (Monday 31st July)

For our friends in New Zealand this does creep into the start of working hours with the outage begnning at 10:00 pm NZST through to 10:00 am on Monday.

During this time it will not be possible to activate nor return MapInfo Pro licenses. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What happens in the case of Japan?

Yes. The outage will be for the same fixed time period. So all one has to do is adjust for their local time zone.

So, for another example, Central Europe will be 12:00 noon to 12 midnight

When (*if*) a hostile foreign power, or asteroid, destroys the license server; will current activated licenses continue to operate indefinitely? Perhaps there is a backup server in Patagonia or somewhere?

To answer your first question, if you have acquired a license on to your own computer (or your own license server) then it will continue to run as long as your computer is running OK. There is no impact on existing acquired licenses from changes to the MapInfo license server. While the server is down you will be unable to activate or return an MI Pro license. You can still run MapInfo Pro licenses you already are using.

And in terms of the robustness of our license server, we host it in a Kings Mountain Facility, have dual clustered application servers, daily backups, fail-over capabilities to an alternate location and other measures in place.

As I type this, the MapInfo License Server is unavailable as previously announced.
