    Hi Rich,

Open the Layer Properties dialog for the Polygon layer in MapInfo Pro and make the layer editable. Choose the % of translucency. You can insert points, text , lines and polygons on this layer as long as it is editable. If you want to add a different style or change an existing one, check the 'Style Override' option in the Layer Display tab. Please see the screenshot attached.

    Regards,

Thanks for your help all, I may have worded my question incorrectly or I’m missing maybe missing something simple. The goal is to make a polygon table 50% translucent and save that change, so I can output to KML. A display setting change doesn’t output to KML. When I make the table editable and select the region style under the Spatial tab, I don’t see the option to change translucency. Just fill and border options.

    Hi Rich,

The Region style under the Spatial tab is meant to change the Fill Pattern or border style for the polygon. For applying translucency, you will have to use the Layer Properties window, apply the translucency and save this map. You can then use the GE Link tool to export it as a kml.

    Hope this answers your question.

    Regards,

    Shweta

Thanks Shweta, unfortunately the translucency still does not display when the KML file opens in GE.

    Hi Rich,

I tried it too and didn't get the translucency. Once the data is in Google Earth, how it deals with the selection appearance would be controlled by GE.
