  • 1.  Importing multiple tiles - Projection

We regularly import large numbers of ASC grids into MapInfo RASTER, the software asks for the projection to be specified for every single one (bit of a pain if 100s).

Previous versions (with VM) asked for the projection to be specified, with the option to apply this to all subsequent grids. Does this or a similar option exist in 16?

    Hi Adam,

Before opening any files in MapInfo Pro16 Advanced, try using Raster > Create Raster > MultiFile to re-project multiple ASCII files at once to one projection. Let me know if this helps?

Or use the Merge tool under Raster Operations on the RASTER tab.

Use the Browse button to select your ASCII grid files. You'll only have to speciffy the coordsys once.

If you don't want to merge them, just close the window afterwards. You will now see tab files for the individual ASCII grid files.

I'm not sure if this option will be available to you unless you have a MapInfo Pro Advanced license.
