  • 1.  Get out of Bounds!

    Are your Map Layers not aligning up correctly or need to make sure you have the right projection? Check the bounds!

    There is a tool in MapInfo Pro called 'Coordsys Bounds Manager' which can be added through the HomeTools Extensions > menu

    Once this tool is added, go to Home >Tools Extensions > CoordSys Bounds Manager > check and set table coordinate system bounds...

    If you select the table from the Tables list you will see the table's projection listed under Table CoordSys section below (screenshot below illustrates this

    Great topic, Matt - it explains how precision can be increased by "optimizing" the bounds.

    sometimes a table needs to be saved without bounds and this is just the tool to do that!

    I guess many of have tried drawing one layer and snapping to nodes in another layer just to see that the nodes inserts shift a bit and doesn't match up with the layer you try to snap to.

    Often the problem is that the two tables aren't using the same coordinate system and if they are, they are using different bounds.
