  • 1.  When exporting to PDF, my layout will print the whole map but without a legend and only a few layers, making the map useless.

Hi all, firstly I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong place. I am new user of MapInfo Pro, running version 17.0. Unfortunately I am the only one in my office using this version (everyone else is on 12.5 I believe) so they cannot open my workspace and try on their machine.

My issue summarized: when trying to print out my layout, my result is a map that has maybe 3 of the ~30 layers that I need for it to make sense. The legend has also essentially dissapeared along with the header and other images included. I have not found any other instances of users having this issue so I was curious if anyone else has ran into this.

    Thanks!See Attachment

Hi Matt, I can help you out with this. When it comes to exporting to .pdf, it could several different things. First thing to check is to make sure you are using the Mapinfo PDF driver. You can find the window in the Pro menu, then options, then Printer.

    See Attachment

In terms of the layers displayed, you should be seeing anything "check" on in layer control. Hopefully you are creating a layout first before exporting. Is this so? Or are you maybe exporting from the Map window?

    Hi Mat,

Also make sure you have all the Frames - Maps and Legend on the Layout for it to be printed.

    Regards,

    Shweta

With the "Layered PDF" checked in the PDF Preferences window, each frame such as map frame ,legend frame, labels etc. becomes a layer in the PDF.

Hi all, thank you for your responses! To be honest (and it is a bit embarrassing to admit so) it appears that it is more a user error than anything. I spent a couple hours on the phone with Pitney Bowes support, and it sounds like it is an issue of bringing a layout created with an old version of MapInfo to a new one. Something is not translating so I have essentially had to recreate the layout but since I have done that, I have had no issues printing/exporting to PDF.

If anyone else has this issue and stumbles across this post, I reccommend that you give Pitney Bowes support a call!
