  • 1.  How to convert DGN file into TAB without losing its properties ?

    Posted 05-21-2018 08:08

I have tried converting a DGN file using Universal translator but the results are opening in multiple files and the Linse styles and line weights are changed. Ca we stitch them into single Tab file wit out loosing any property? I am just thinking if MapBasic can make this happen. Looking for Experts advice :)

Been a while since I worked with DGN files so bear with me.

I'm guessing the Universal Translator i splitting the layers in the DGN file into separate tables. Have you checked if there is an option to keep the layers in a single tab file?

Maybe this top one: Group Elements By

Thanks @Peter Horsbøll Møller? I have tested all the options. But still i am getting Multiple Tab Files. So, i tried Append Rows options and clubbed all the Tab files. It worked but i feel it is a length process if you have 63 layers :). I believe there should be some MapBasic script or direct feature for such kind of jobs.

There are a bunch of "Merging" tools available out there - it's just a matter of finding them :-)

    Here's one on MapInfoTools.com: http://mapinfotools.com/index.php?option=com_sobi2&sobi2Task=sobi2Details&catid=8&sobi2Id=34&Itemid=53

The site doesn't seem to behave that well currently but you can find the download link if you scroll almost to the end of the page
