Why Mapinfo don't rewrite the raster when georeferencing ?

I think Tab file should only contains GCP (ground control point) for rotate and traslate the raster (i.e. not stretching).

Now Mapinfo do not show correctly two overlapping raster with different (GCP).

By default MapInfo Pro will show the raster vertically and align the vector data to the raster. This means that your view of the World will be rotated to match the rotation of the raster.

If you try to load two rasters into the same map, this can get you into trouble, especially if their orientation isn't aligned.

You can however set MapInfo Pro to keep the rotation of the coordinatesystem of your map and align the raster to this instead.

You do this via the Map Options, Image Processing and then choosing either Optimized or Always under Reprojection using.

I solve the problem georegistering with another program who rewrite the raster and then open it with Mapinfo. In this way i can load multiple raster in the same view without distortion.

p.s. Why Mapinfo do not rewrite the raster ?

I guess when we initially we didn't see that as necessary. In many cases the rasters were scan versions of paper maps that had the correct orientation.

MapInfo Pro Advanced 17.0 now has a tool that allows you to rewrite the raster to match the orientation of the coordinate system.
