While installing MapInfo Pro silently, it is always recommended to use the setup.exe file and not the MapInfo Pro .msi file. The .msi file does not install the necessary prerequisites and causes MapInfo Pro to behave erratically.

Also, while installing from the .msi file, we do not get any message of installing the prerequisites separately.

Well, quite a few localized languages surely go on the DVDs. We create the DVDs , for some regions it is more important than others. Japan distributes mostly on DVD, European languages mostly downloads from the web.

The only time I would have users install MapInfo Pro using the .msi file is when users install older versions of MapInfo Pro such as MapInfo 12.5 on Windows 7, 8.1, or 10 that have newer versions of Microsoft .Net Framework and C++ libraries already installed.

If users happen to install from a DVD, the setup.exe is not the easiest to find as there are several subfolders. It is usually located under the Install\MI_PRO\DISK1 folder when browsing the DVD in an explorer window.

It is strongly recommended to install by right-clicking on the setup.exe and choosing the option to 'Run as administrator' to ensure that it gets installed properly otherwise items such as PDF printer drivers may not be installed.
