MapInfo Pro

Our MapInfo client is not able to connect to the server.

The server is reachable on port 27111 but when we try to register the license it fails to connect. The website suggests that we add a port number to “VENDOR” in the file named: “MILICSERVER.lic”.

Could you please suggest the client to connect to port 27000 and restart the services and see if it works?

We have installed the license server on one server, the user will connect to the license server from a terminal server, however mapinfo is unable to connect to the server, we specified port 27111 and we tried port 27000 as suggested but it still cannot connect. 

The user is able to telnet to the server. See attached photos to confirm.

The message on top is in danish, the message translates to: "Unable to establish a connection to the license server: 27111@GV-APP01"

Can you share the first three lines from your MILICSERVER.lic. It's located in the folder where you installed the MapInfo Licens Server Utility

Please try adding >>> VENDOR unisw20 PORT= 27000 or any other number.

In FEATURE MapInfo_License_Server unisw20 1.0 permanent 1 SIGN="006B \ >>> there should be a longer string, probably you have missed while typing. Please check this too.

Now, try to telnet both these ports. If you are still unable to connect, you need to open the firewall where MIPro is installed and it should work.

The Vendor port, you say 27000 or any other number. Why can it be random? We selected 27000 and tried to telnet, but that doesn't work. FW rules have been applied.

The license file, MILICServer.lic, allows you to specify to ports that should have been opened in your firewall. The first port is the one you enter when you connect to the license server utility from MapInfo Pro.

The port numbers we noted in MILICServer.lic have already been opened on the server with the license software utility, if we logon to the terminal server, from which the user will connect and telnet to 172.18.132.50 27111 it’s working fine, we tried to add 27000 to the file, in the vendor line as Shweta suggested, but we are unable to telnet to that, that port have also been opened in the firewall on the server.
