Will I be able to open a large amount of tab files at once in MapInfo Pro 17, e.g 2800 tab files of aerial photography?

You might run into a number of limitation if you try just to open them as individual raster files.

First of all, I'm not sure the Open dialog will allow you to select 2800 files.

Secondly, if the raster format is being handled by MapInfo Pro Advanced raster handler, you will run out of File Handles. Where the raster handlers in Pro typical opens the file, get the data and then closes the file again, the Advanced raster handlers keeps the file open.

Windows allows you to have around 2000 file handles open per process.

You can give it a try but I recommend one of these solutions:

• Use MapInfo Pro Advanced to merge all your aerial photos into a single MRR.
• Create a seamless table for your aerial photos

?I would certainly break this down into 2 or 3 batches and merge the files into an MRR file using MapInfo Pro Advanced. Then merge the 2 or 3 files into one resultant MRR file. I have done this for 3,600 tiled images.
