Is there a way currently to filter a list of records based on the preference used?

We have 5 different ERP's in our company and I'd like to be able to chose a Preference that maybe is called "West ERP Details", and besides having it display the list of chosen attributes, it also automatically filters the list of records based on a given attribute value that represents the West ERP.

    Hi Rick.

It sounds as if you may want to control that via Record Security Filters for specific User Groups. The view preference would be the same but different users will only see the ERP data that they are assigned to.  Not sure if that's the direction that will lead you to your desired outcome with the info above. Happy to help you work the problem though.

    Hi Jon,

I've looked into using the Record Security Filters for specific User Groups but unfortunately as you've stated it completely cuts off visibility for the users of one ERP from seeing the others.

I have common attributes used by all ERP's.  I want each ERP to have control over these common attributes for their ERP only, while also being able to view those same attributes for the other ERP's so that they can standardize on values as well as validate that their data entries actually are specific to the same product item.   In the image below, the PIM ID is our item key field, and the ERP Code is our ERP key field.  I want ERP Code #1 to have the ability to change only the attribute values for their row, yet still have the ability to see what the ERP 2&3 values are.

    Hi Rick,

Another option might be to create separate Repository View shortcuts for each group.  You can create/use separate preferences for each short cut, and create/use use separate Saved Searches for each shortcut.

    Hope this helps!

Some great ideas here!   I'll see what I can do to explore several of them to see what works for me.

    Thank you very much!

    Rick,

It sounds like you need a combination of user preference (to specify what attributes are displayed) and a Predefined Search (to restrict what records are shown).  You can set these up individually in the repository and select them at-will.  The only way to tie them together would be to define a set of shortcuts on a shortcut widget that selects the preference and the search together.  The user would start on the dashboard and click on the desired view.  The repository tab would open with the corresponding preference and search pre-selected so they only see the appropriate records and attributes.
