Hi Jon,
Your file DID work in my shortcut. What we are seeing is that the .pdf we load to OUR DAM, will open in Firefox but NOT in Chrome.
Our infrastructure guy tells me this:
When PDF files are loaded to S3, the header of the file coming out of the DAM S3 is not "application/pdf". Chrome checks the headers to display the file. When I manually change the header on S3 to "application/pdf", the file is able to be displayed. When uploading to S3, there is a field called "contentType". This is where you specify what the resulting file should be.
Our Solution Architect tells me this:
S3 uploads are done via Enable base DAM functionality. No configurations that I am aware of. Short of a script that you would develop yourselves to update S3 buckets directly, Zendesk is probably your next step.
My question for you: do you do anything special when you are loading files?
Thanks so much for you help!

Hi Brenda,
I'm going to take a shot helping you figure this one out. Is your JPG pointing to a high resolution variant set up in PIM? PDFs won't create variants so, if you change your variant in the URL to "Original", it should allow you to see the PDF.
You are welcome to use one of our PDF links to see if it will work in your custom window shortcut:
https://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Original/10001/OM_leg_bass_Fender_Guitars_and_Basses_2003.pdf
This is an old product manual from 2003.
Best regards,
-Jon

In classic UI, I created a Custom Window shortcut, and set the Custom URL to the URL of a .jpg file in my DAM. That works great--when I click on the shortcut (in 2020) I can see the image. But if I do the same thing and set the Custom URL to the URL of a .pdf file in my DAM, I get a Error Failed to load PDF document message.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this? The first workaround I can think of is to convert the .pdf to a .jpg. But I am hoping for a more elegant solution.
Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated!
