We are using several tables from one Oracle database for our data workflow. If I am right, then I have to provide database connection for each an every JDBC node. Is there a way to configure it once and then use this connection with multiple JDBC table input
nodes?

It is also a challenge when switching from dev environment to prod environment, that we would have to edit all JDBC nodes. Would be great to have a central registry independend from JDBC nodes and workflow.

Hi Holger,

The data flow properties and run properties are typically configured to satisfy this type of requirement for a common location for the definition of a value to be used by multiple nodes within a data flow.

The use of these properties is described in the 'Advanced' -> 'Defining properties' section of the Dataverse help and can also be accessed online here:

Run properties would probably be appropriate for your dev/prod environment use case.

We have taken your feedback and tightened up the language a bit since it seemed that the language was the weakest part of the documentation.  You will see the changes in a week or two here, or you can also find the changes in the 3.1.2 release which will be available in the next week.

I am using now data flow properties to centrally configure by several JDBC nodes as suggested. In general it works, but I would like to get one little improvement to make this much more convenient to use.

JDBC connection is a set of 4 parameters: driver, URL, user and password.

I would be great to have them as a standard group in the data flow properties as a kind of new type.

Thanks for your suggestion. We have been discussing some designs for enhancements that would allow a user to define a database connection object that could then be referenced from multiple nodes within a data flow, and also from multiple data flows. This would provide centralised configuration of JDBC connections. It would also permit database connections to be created by, say, an admin user and then (securely) shared with end users.

Hi Holger, unfortunately this enhancement has not yet been included in the product. It is still a roadmap candidate.
