  • 1.  How can I pull imagery via the SSA 12 WMS service in another coordinate system eg epsg:3857

    Posted 10-30-2017 04:20

I have been testing pulling information via the WMS service? in SSA 12 and I cant pull any thing from the service in any projection apart from the native projection that the imagery is uploaded in. In our case this is epsg:2193.

Does the WMS service support on the fly projection transformation?

    Any help would be appreciated

Hi Peter, Sorry I seem to have missed this one. I have included @Mustafa Ismail for his comments. Regards Andy

I don't believe you can Peter. You can overlay vector data in a different projection to your base mapping but not raster (WMS).

    Hi there,

Thanks for your information guys, essentially I wish to use Geoserver to proxy the data from SSA to a public service, I'll do some more testing.

Pretty sure the reprojection can be done in Geoserver using local tile caching, I'll rethink my approach, thanks again.

    cheers

    Hi Peter

If you are referring to the Spectrum Spatial WMS server, then this is not able to re-project raster or imagery based data into another projection. AS John says only vector data can be re-projected.

If you are referring to adding a third-party WMS service in the SSA Admin Console, then it is possible to pick from one of the projections supported by the WMS service’s capabilities file. SSA however has a requirement that the projection you choose be the same as that of other base maps or other WMS services that have been added.

We plan to enable support for client side on-the-fly re-projection of imagery based data such as WMS, Bing maps etc in a future release of SSA, since Openlayers now supports this. I am hopeful we can achieve this in 13.0. It will allow you to add both Spectrum or third party data in its original projection.

    Hi @Mustafa Ismail? , that's great.

Im more meaning the other way around, connecting to data that is already within the SSA? WMS and publishing this via Geoserver, so that other external agencies / companies / public can access the data indirectly via SSA.

Within SSA third party tile and WMS services work well.

Thanks for your information, its good to know that these things are on the roadmap.

    cheers
