I noticed that with 12.2 being able to create tables/layers, when choosing a style for a point, custom symbols are available. Does this mean that we no longer have to create jar files for any custom symbols of our own we create and if not, where would we place these to allow them to be available for SSA? I couldn't find any details in the administration manual.

Spatial Manager is showing only those Custom Symbols which get installed with server and these are also available in MI Pro. Capability to list user Custom Symbols will be available in future release.

I'm not sure i understand completely. So if we previously used jar files to store custom symbols, with 12.2, these jar files will no longer work? Or will these jar files still work?

I'm now talking outside of spatial manager, as in loading from MapInfo using custom symbols in MapInfo where the custom symbols have already been added to a jar file.

Those jar will still work with 12.2, Spatial Manager is showing only those custom symbols which are installed with server installation. Any custom symbol added by user in jar will not show in Spatial Manager to select. There is no change in behavior of server related to custom symbol.
