  • 1.  Need to Re-schedule All Scheduled Tasks

    Posted 07-23-2019 10:39

I am currently using Winshuttle Studio 11.4.1  Build 011802121

The IT department forces all SAP users to revise/update their SAP password every three months.

This forces me to update my SAP Shuttle Logon credentials the next time I use Winshuttle. I know how to do this, and understand why. No problems here.

However, I am unable to use all Scheduled Tasks. They will not work and I encounter error messages.

Each of these have to be set up again, which I believe is to recognize the new password.

Is this normal for Winshuttle Studio, or am I doing something wrong?

That's standard behavior. When you schedule a job the Foundation site caches the credentials of whoever is scheduling. The only systematic way around it is to use some form of SAP SSO or have a service account with a non-expiring SAP password.

There is a setting in Foundation settings called Manage Passwords where you can store your credentials. If you update it when you are forced to create a new password, the jobs should continue to work after that. I think the scheduler checks there first.

We just switched to a service account and have had much better success overall-- we've also been able to enable email notifications to the appropriate people should a job fail, which has been nice.

For me, it's a two-fold issue... my password expires for SAP, AND it expires for the SQL Server database that I am extracting my Query script results into.  I currently have 10 different scripts that I run (most are weekly), so when my pw expires every 45 days or whatever, I have to delete the existing scheduled jobs and re-create them with Studio, using the updated credentials.  If this was something I only had to do once every 6 months or a year, not a big deal, but kind of a pain to have to deal with it every 45 days.  I've been told to request an service account with a non-expiring pw (or one that changes once a year), but our IT is not typically eager to hook us up with such accounts (much less giving us the 'keys' to their login credentials) as they see it as somewhat of a security concern (not to mention you have to make sure that the service account has the appropriate table access behind the scenes).

I have run into the same issue.  Instead of scheduling the jobs within Studio, I setup batch files with the command line to execute the scripts.  These batch files are executed by the Windows Task Scheduler instead.  One of the parameters of the command line is which autologin to use.  When I have to change my password, I just edit the batch file and mass-replace the old autologin with the new autologin.

I am having same issue.  We have 20+ scripts and SAP password expires every 3 months.  Batch file solution sounds promising,  I have to check with our IT person if that is something he can help!
