  • 1.  How to Force Runner user to execute the script from the proper sheet of the workbook

    Posted 05-10-2021 10:25
Hello - I have a Template worksheet with multiple sheets and I have not found a way to force the Runner user to execute the script from te sheet that is configured. I was told that if I click on the Sheet within Studio, it will force the user to run the script within the proper sheet (as it was configured in the script, including the Sheet and the From/To rows). It did not work that way. The script ran and overlaid the data in the sheet that was open by the Runner user. Is there  a way to accomplish this?
I also noticed that after running each script, the cursor goes to the first script, instead of highlighting the last script that was executed.  it would help to now what scripts are left to run. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Vicky - When you publish the script into excel, there will be an option to publish and bind(little lock icon) it to particular sheet.

    Hi Vicky
Krishna is correct.  You are showing
If you click on the lock icon, you will lock it, like this

then when you swap scripts, it will only run on the sheet it is locked to.

    Best Regards,

Hi Sigrid and Krishna – Thank you for your responses.

Hi Sigrid - That is exactly how I Locked the sheet, as I have shown in my email. Still the behavior was not as expected. Any other suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Hi Vicky

Based on your screen shot, it wasn't locked to the sheet before it was published.  I would remove the script from the excel file, lock the sheet, save the script and re-publish.

Alternately, if you're using Connect Studio, you can open a support ticket to request the Studio Utility.  It will allow you to open an excel file that has scripts published and edit certain attributes, such as sheet to run on and binding (locking) it to a sheet.

    Best Regards,
    Sigrid

Hi Sigrid – I am pretty sure I locked the Sheet before publishing, and then Saved. I will try again and test.

    Thank you,
