  • 1.  Studio (with Connect) V12.1: upgrade to Studio 20 ?

    Hi, We're considering an upgrade from Studio 12.1 (connect) to Studio 20.xx (connect).

    Does anyone have experience in this upgrade ?
    Should my scripts (query, transaction, direct) made in Studo 12.1 still work in Studo 20 ? Or is there a possibility all my scripts need reworking ?

    Hi Jan,

    I'll let others weigh in, but you should be fine.  Version 20.x, and the latest is 20.2.8, is very compatible with scripts from v12.x.

    I've been with Winshuttle - now Precisely Automate - for 12 years now, and the vast majority of the scripts I created along the way still work.  In some major releases, I've had to do a save as new version, but that's about it.  The exception is GUI scripting - that may require recreating as GUI versions change, but I prefer BAPIs over GUI scripting whenever possible.

    Hi Jan,
    We recently moved from Studio 12.1 (Foundation - User Governance) to 20.1 (Studio Manager) all of our 12.1 scripts have worked so far.  We have had some issues with Studio Manager that we are still trying to iron out but other than that it has been a smooth transition.

    Good to hear that transaction works so smoothly.
    I installed Studio 20.2.8 on my laptop this morning. I 'm testing a number of scripts (old and new) before having this version installed on the other computers running WS in the company. And, indeed, I did not run into any issues at all so far .
