Good afternoon all, i hope my post finds you all safe and well.

Im looking to hopefully get some information/guidance regarding the removal rather than upload of Material master data texts, in particular "Purchase order text"

i have circa 3500 records where text exists for multiple languages that i need to remove in SAP, the difficulty is they are a select set of languages and not "all" languages that exist at material/purchase order text level.

has anyone ever scripted such an update before? if so please can you share how?

I considered recording as GUI directly in MM02 but as there is no selection criteria per language, and the language keys differ per material, i cant specifically pin point only the language lines i want to delete merely the position of that language key on screen, which as its variable isnt going to work (i dont think!)

Currently using  Winshuttle V 12.0 and SAP ECC.

any help greatly appreciated!

Hi Christian -

You can use the available long-text functionality within Winshuttle Studio to be able to clear the long text. It will not remove it completely (using the trash can button) but it will clear out the existing text. Basically replacing the existing long text with blank text. If that works, feel free to try the attached.

Are you game to try a BAPI using DIRECT?  It's a quite simple one:  RFC_DELETE_TEXT
Pass in:

• MAN is client
• TDobject is MATERIAL (this works for lots of text types so this specifies it's a material)
• TDNAME is your material number - if numeric you'll have to zero pad to the correct length
• TDID is the text type - BEST is the PO text
• TDSPRAS is the language code
