  • 1.  Winshuttle compatibiltiy on Azure platform

    ​Hello,

    Currently we are using Winshuttle studio 12.0 V as desktop application. I would like to know is Winshuttle compatible on Azure platform and work on Azure cloud platform as desktop application ?

    Hi Pankaj

    Studio is typically installed on a desktop and can also be installed and run on a VM.   Please check the pre-requisites here for 12.x:  https://docs.winshuttle.com/studio-en-12-1-x-system-requirements/system-requirements.htm
    The license is also named user. 

    So my question back - what is the use case for installing in the cloud?

    Please note we do have server-based products which can be installed in the cloud, such as User Governance, Foundation, Studio Manager and Evolve.  With Foundation, Studio Manager and Evolve, a desktop client can select to run a script on the server or schedule it on the server, in case that's your use case.

    Hi Sigrid,

     

    Our company  is focused on migrating apps and server VMs from on-prem to Azure public cloud. And Winshuttle  app that I am supporting is being analyzed to determine its suitability and readiness for migration to the cloud as part of the Cloud Program.   

     

    So or technical team wants to know

     

    • Is Winshuttle a candidate for migration to Azure, to be decommissioned or retained?
    • What are application/data dependencies on this instance and its underlying databases?

    We have been able to run Studio on a Windows Server, as well.  But I have not heard of putting Studio, which is a desktop app, in the cloud instead of a VM.  You might want to open a support ticket to double check.
