CREATE GROUP works well if you are using a LOOP, i.e. loading the entire group in one go. Otherwise for the 2nd line, it doesn't know which group to add it to. So use controlling area as the HEADER adn the rest as LINE ITEMS, and you should be good to go.
BAPI_COSTCENTERGROUP_ADDNODE would allow you to add nodes to an existing group.

Does anybody have experience with creating costcenter groups with this BAPI through DIRECT? The BAPI works well in SE37 but gives me an error message 'Inconsistent set hierarchy' on the second line when running the Direct script.
