  • 1.  Make Query Data Files Public

Hello, is there a way that we can make the query data folders (and all attachments in the folders) visible to all users? Or, is it possible to have the Excel attachment from a scheduled run be sent over email?

    Hi Peter

Can you please give some context to your question?

Are you using the desktop, command line interface, User Governance, Foundation or Evolve to schedule the Query, or something else?

What are the attachments you mentioned?  Is it the query data file or something else?

    Thanks,
    Sigrid

    Hi Sigrid,

We have a user who scheduled a daily query run on the server. He has to retrieve the Excel file from Foundation (12.1) every morning. However, if he is out sick, nobody on his team can access the query data files as they are in a folder for his name that only he or a site owner have access to. I've explored countless options with updating permissions on the particular folder. They are now able to access the folder but can't see any files in the folder. Is there a way to make the entire folder and its contents visible to anyone? Or, can the completion email from the server contain the actual attachment instead of a link to the attachment?

    Hi Peter

With Foundation, that means SharePoint permissions.  This is not my area of expertise - but I have a few questions:

    • Did they break with the standard security for this folder?
    • Are item level permissions turned on, so that even if you get to the folder, you can't get to the files?

If that doesn't help, you might consider opening a support ticket to see if someone can help you.

    Best Regards,
    Sigrid
