  • 1.  Transfer an encrypted SAP password to SAP

    Posted 10-27-2020 03:44
    Hello everyone,
we are looking for a possibility to transfer an encrypted SAP password to SAP via transaction. In concrete terms, this is transaction QA11, where the user's SAP password must be transferred during the transaction for confirmation.
The storage of the password in plain text in Excel or in a script is out of the question for us for regulatory reasons.

Does anyone have any experience with this or is there another way to transfer the password?

    Thanks, best regards

    Hi Rüdiger

This is a unique use case.  Let me please understand what you're trying to do.

    1. You are loading data in QA11, and you need to upload an encrypted password as part of the data input?
      or
    2. You are loading data in QA11, and you've written some type of user exit in the tcode that when save is clicked, you have to enter your SAP password again?
    or
    3. is it something else?

As you probably know, we don't encrypt/decrypt data in Studio, so I'm not certain this is something we can help with.

    Please let us know.

    Best Regards,
    Sigrid

    Hi Sigrid,
Thanks for your answer to my question and sorry for the late answer from me....

Regarding your question of transaction QA11: the situation is as you describe in 1: password and user ID is a part of data entry. Meanwhile we have developed an excel file that enters the password at runtime via a macro. There we did some tests and presented to Quality department. There the decision is still open...

I have still two additional questions:
    - Can one of the future Winshuttle versions handle the NWBC? So serving transactions through the browser interface?

    - Can one of the future Winshuttle versions work with Google Sheets? See the following page of Winshuttle: http://winshuttle-help.s3.amazonaws.com/transaction/en/ts-adv-guide/10.x/3955.htm#gsc.tab=0

These are two important topics for us here at Roche from a strategic point of view.

    Many thanks

    Best regards

    Hi Ruediger,

Thanks for the reply.  The macro method looks to be a good one .  I hope it's approved.

We currently do not have NWBC support on our roadmap, which doesn't seem to be a strategic UI for SAP anymore.  Since most of our customers are moving to S4, we are looking at supporting OData services, for example.

As for Google Sheets support, we supported it years ago.  But over the years, only a few customers were using it.  So, our product team decided we should use our resources in other areas.

Please contact your account rep who can arrange for a roadmap discussion and can take note of your requirements.

    Best Regards,
    Sigrid
