  • 1.  loss of drop downs and macros from excel when after working in Winshuttle

    Hello everyone,
I have drop downs, macro, and buttons on a excel files that are lost or not working after reopening in Winshuttle developer to make changes to a script.

What am I doing wrong or some tips to not have this happen when more work needs to be done though Winshuttle.

    Thanks
    Ben Kielas

Adding some files and screen grabs of what is happening to give more detail to what is happening.

Before I add the script showing the drop down in the cell.

After I add the script the pull downs are gone.

I do not see an option to add attachments with this post.

    Hi Ben -

If you are trying to manipulate macros, buttons, etc in the Excel file from within Winshuttle Studio's excel preview, you will not see them.  The Excel data from within the Winshuttle Studio client is not a real instance of Excel, but is using a spreadsheet control, so it will not show all of the native Excel functionality.

To do those types of native Excel manipulations, please do them from within an actual instance of Excel before or after the Winshuttle script changes you make.

    Thank you!

    Thanks Jennifer.
I have added to my post of an example of my issue.
I added attachments of the excel before adding scripts and after adding the scripts to show the drop down get removed.
Is there a setting in WS to not loss these?

    Hey Ben -

Neither my colleagues nor I have ever seen this issue.  The publishing of Winshuttle scripts into templates has nothing to do with any dropdowns you may have built, as long as those dropdowns are Excel driven. I see that there's no Query script built into your template either, so it's not a name range issue. Is this something that happens on any Excel file with dropdowns where you publish Winshuttle scripts into or just this particular one?

I would recommend opening a Support case on this so they can better troubleshoot.

    Thank you,

    Thanks

I we do not do this to often but I have seen it before.

My method tends to add these after the script is done.

This instance someone has done the work ahead of me adding the scripts to the excel file.
