Hello,

We've been asked to look for a way to update a long text field in MM42 (long article description) and possibly add that field to our MM41 article creation form. After some research, it doesn't look like Winshuttle v11 or v12 support long text in MM41/42:

I also tried to treat it as a normal field, but as expected Winshuttle was not able to properly read or write.

Figured I'd post here to see if anyone has ideas on how we can mass update the long article description in MM42 at least, if not add it to the creation form. Thoughts?

In v12, t-code MM42 is supported by our easier Long Text functionality.  This would also require the v12 WFM being installed on your system.  Typically the way our long text works is that it's added as a follow-up to after the SAP data object is created, and that's why far more "change" t-codes are supported than creation.  So it would need to be a second script run following the MM41 creation. 

But in general with any long text field in SAP, if the t-code is not part of the list supported by our easier Long Text functionality, it can still be recorded but can only be done as multiple 72-character lines.

Can you explain the second part more in depth? My transaction script recognized that there was a long text field, but did not record the value with it. Also when I tried to upload to that field, it did not detect input for that step.

I did figure out how to add the long text in MM42 - however, I don't see MM42 in the list of supported t-codes for v12. Thanks again!

Hi Owoyemi -

There is an "add long text" button on the top ribbon of Studio in the Mapper. Once you click on it you will see the long text options that you can select.
