The trickiest part is to generate a list of dates/months between the first and last records. Once you have that, you can use a lookup to get the dates that have values and then fill in the null records. I'm doing the date generation manually here.

There is also an accelerator node that you can use to do the same. It's called the Master Calendar Creator and is found in the Metadata and Structure library. The limitation here is that the start and end dates are entered manually. Also, the only option is to increment the dates on a 'per day' basis. If you only want one record per month, you'd filter by day and only keep the first of every month.
