A graph that i have worked on for 1,5 year cannot be opened.

Luckily we had backup on our team documents so now it works...
    SCARY!

    ====================
I have had this happen to me, but it's a limited set of circumstances that have to happen:
    1) Short term network error
    2) BRE resets the graph name from "myGraph" to "myGraph.brg" - it should not normally include the BRG extension in the name (difficult to notice)
    3) The graph contains library nodes
    4) You ADD a local library node (using Add or Copy/Paste) to the canvas, most often thru copy/paste.

In this condition, BRE acts as though the two names above are different.
It thinks that the current graph should be added as an external library, because it sees "myGraph.brg" and "myGraph.brg.brg" as two different things.

I've never seen it happen without #1 - the network error.

I got a Blue screen of death this morning, and I think this graph was open when this happened.
The graph do contain library nodes, but other from nothing is special about the graph besides it is quite big.
In any case, this shouldn't happen. I was lucky to have a recent backup.
But what if this wasn't the case, I'd be looking at 1,5 years of work out the window, just because of a BSOD.

    1) you need to have a backup directory defined
    a) your 'lost' file might be in there
    2) for your case, you might want more than just 5 backup copies. You can specify any number.
    3) I think 60 seconds is too aggressive for the Autosave - I prefer 600 (ten minutes)

From what I know of it, a "Backup" is only created when you actually SAVE the file, but an "AutoSave" is done on the timer.
