I am happy to share some insights from comparisons that some of our customers have completed, detailed below:
"Customer X" recently completed a comparison of the SAS suite and the MDA’s Lavastorm Analytic Engine (LAE) to understand key differences in providing marketing analytics. The comparison highlighted three core points of differentiation (in favor of Lavastorm) of process analytics that are further defined in Exhibit 2 in this paper:
1. The ability to work with any data architecture without forcing data to be stored in a warehouse environment and without imposing a data schema to the data
2. The ability to capture, validate, and codify business logic that is central to analyzing the business operations as they are designed and as they actually work
3. The tools visualization, agile methodology, and user interface that combine to enable business users to use the tool and/or become active collaborators in the development of the analytic logic.
...
...
At the highest level, the findings emphasize the fundamentally different designs and optimal uses of the tools:
1. SAS delivers high-value statistical and predictive analytics
2. LAE delivers process analytics for data- and logic-intensive business processes such as order-to-cash
I hope this provides you some insights into the differences between SAS and the Lavastorm Analytic Platform, please contact me directly if you are interested in more information.
Cheers
