It sounds like your BRE preferences have somehow got corrupted.
In order to just get your nodes running again, you should just have to configure the server farm correctly under Tools->Preferences->Server Farms.

If you are using a desktop installation and not connecting to a remote server, then you should just add a new entry to the server farm list, then edit that farm.
Enter brain/brain as the username and password, and set the hostname to localhost, using port 7721.
Then try connect.

Let me know if this works.

In order to fix the rest of your preferences, a little bit more information would be required.
Is this a Lavastorm Desktop installation, or a BRE installation where you are connecting to a remote server?
Was this installed for all users on the machine, or was it only installed for a single user?
What version of Windows are you running?

It looks like the problem here is that the server is most likely not getting started when you launch BRE.
If you look in your taskbar/system tray(/whatever Windows is calling it these days) you should see an icon with a small green dot when the server is running.
If the server has died, you will see the same icon, but red.
See attached image for a case where the server is running.

If the icon is there, but it's red, then double click on it, and the server console will be brought up.
From here, you can click "restart".
If the icon is not there, then you should be able to start the server from the Start Menu - by default this is under Start Menu->Lavastorm->LAE 4.5->LAE Server.
If the icon is there, but is not green, then I'm not sure why BRE cannot connect to the server.. it could be that the server is running on a different port, but assuming you haven't been changing the files under <installationDir>/conf then the server should be on the port that BRE is trying to connect to.

If the server console is running when BRE is started, then even if the server has died, a new server console (and therefore a new server) won't be started.
If the server console is not running though, then BRE should automatically start a new local server.
It sounds like this isn't happening for you, though I'm not sure why.
Sometimes this is due to the paths configured in the bre.ini however looking at your bre.ini, these paths all appear to be in order.


In any case, let me know if this information helps you to resolve the problem.
If not, further investigation is needed.

Not sure what happened, it sounds like your bre.ini got removed or scrambled somehow, which is unusual. So just make sure your install directory (for me it is c:\Program Files (x86)\Lavastorm\LAE 4.5) is also one of your search paths in your BRE Preferences.

it seems like there is still something strange going on with my LAE server(I guess?). Now when I try to run a graph it gives me the following error. After I click "OK" and try to rerun the graph, it yields the same error as before(as in timeglas for ~1 sec, then nothing).
