Are you only trying to connect to the server that is started by BRE automatically, or are you trying to start is yourself with the BRAIN Server shortcut in the start programs? If you are trying with BRE, are you doing it only but starting BRE by clicking on an existing graph? I believe there is currently an outstanding bug that BRE will not launch the server under those circumstances, you need to launch BRE alone.

The windows server console scrolls an activity log. If you bring up the BRAIN Server Console (double-click the indicator icon on the taskbar) and use the Restart button, what does it show?

When installing BRAIN, there is an option on whether to install java components (this would be unset if the installer detected a useable java). Did you do a full install of all components?

Apologies, I wasn't clear enough.
On the Windows taskbar, the BRAIN server gets its own little icon as one of the running applications. It looks like a little green, or red (if it is running or not) traffic light. Look in the section next to the time/day/date where active service icons go.

If you double click on THAT, it will maximize the BRAIN Server Console. That is where the activity log is held I'm asking about. If the server isn't starting up, it should show an error there. If it IS running, it should show that all is fine.
