Are there specific local permissions I need to have our company administrators grant? They could have changed the permissions but I do not know which permissions to have them add.

So you should not need special permissions to access these files, generally. They should have been created by the same user that normally runs BRE. I guess if you used to run it as administrator, and then started running it as the standard user, that could be a cause.

Can you navigate to the directory C:\BRAINscratch\BRE\brs\ and open that file (ADC_TWDRL7BAC_run4b04775a 14d219ae.brs) with an editor? Do you have read and write permission on it? If you can open it, try to save it.

Not sure why you wouldn't, unless somehow the owner or permissions somewhere along that path got changed....or as mentioned above, you started running as a different user, or not as Administrator.

Let me know the results of the editor test above, and we can continue from there.

I went ahead and made a copy of the BRAINscratch directory structure and changed the brs and bak options to point to this new location. By doing this I can open a graph but cannot save it. When saving the error has the original BRAINscratch path in it? I can create a new graph and save it though - the brs and bak files go to the new BRAINscratch directory.

Somehow my privs to the original BRAINscratch directory are messed up. I cannot delete the directory either.

I am thinking about reinstalling the desktop to see if this fixes this issue. Ideally I want the original BRAINscratch location to work - as this is the standard location for other installs.

You mentioned in your first post that you can open, edit, and save existing files in the brs directory. You then mentioned the .brs file doesn't exist yet in the directory. Can you, outside of our software, create new files in that directory?

Not sure what is going on, permission-wise, but I suspect, unfortunately, that a reinstall isn't going to help. Something is up with the directory itself. Have you done a check on the filesystem, from windows? If you can't create files in that directory, you should check permissions to make sure you have Full Control over the directory.
