If that doesn't work.
Press F8 to view the log before you attempt to connect
Watch the messages as you attempt to connect.


Small update: before viewing the log, I would suggest:
Go to Tools/Preferences/Execution
Turn OFF the "Log Messages" checkbox.
--- this will remove the "Purple" messages which are generally non-helpful
