    Keith answered: I think obviously getting to the various user conference and training offered by commercial software providers are all approaches. Also, being part of your local/state/regional GIS org, and their events and training. Certainly, there are fantastic online programs, including MOOCs, which provide opportunity. The Penn State stuff is excellent, for instance.
