This is a thematic range map (contained within 13km grids) to illustrate the greenspaces within Great Britain. It offers an indication as to which areas of the country have rich provision of greenspaces in comparison to others and we all enjoy these types of spaces, especially in the summer!

I created this map using a free evaluation copy of MapInfo Pro v17.0 (64-bit) as I recently changed employers so I no longer have access to a license via work ;(

The greenspace data set is free from Ordnance Survey covering a range of areas in urban and rural areas including playing fields, sports’ facilities, play areas and allotments. The boundary file for the map was also sourced freely via Ordnance Survey. The sea was created by making a mask around the combined GB area which was then saved and formatted to look like the four seas that border Great Britain.

I assume "greenspaces" are defined as public parts etc and not as fields and forrest in the country side :-)

But nice looking map. I like the small waves on the sea

Hi Peter, you're absolutely correct. The data refers to public parks, playing fields, sports facilities, play areas, allotments etc - it's a comprehensive catalogue of accessible places.

Did you use a Vector Grid or a Raster grid? I assume Vector based on the look of the legend but it can be hard to tell.
