  • 1.  Masking a layer

    Hi guys,
I have two (UK) layers. One is a coastline using polygons (World Vector Shoreline). the second is a layer of protected sites in the marine environment (SPAs and MPAs) and also along the UK coast. The way the protected site layer has been created (by 3rd party) each site is very 'square' and 'blocky'. I'd like to use my coastline layer to mask out the land on the protected sites layer - maybe creating a new protected sites layer. I can then use it with the 'Bing' aerial raster layer. Hope this makes sense....

    Graham.

    Hi Graham,

If I understand correctly what you want to do is erase the part of the protected zones that overlaps the land?
    1. Make the layer Editable
    2. Select all protected sites and Set As Target
    3. Select land and Erase Target

You should be able to use the Quick Search bar at the top to look up any of these tools if you are having issues finding/using them.
