I am about to purchase a new pc for using Mapinfo Version 15.0.3 32 bit with mapbasic programming and I need to know if there are any concerns running on Windows 11. Any tips for what to get computer wise would be appreciated, prefer laptop that's not too expensive. Thank you

    Hi Mary

MapInfo v15 was released a few years before Win 11, so it's not compliant and not ideal.

Any reason why you wouldn't move up to MapInfo v2021.1?

    Regards

HI John, I have some custom mapbasic programming that I use for my soil sampling recommendations; its my understanding it will not work in newer versions.

    Hi Mary

A lot of MapBasic tools work fine in newer versions of MapInfo Pro.

You can give it a try by installing the latest version of MapInfo Pro side-by-side with your current v15.0 and give it a try.

Often you will find that the tools work but that you need to find their functionality in a different place. Some tools have their menus embedded into the context menu of the tool in the Tools Window. Others appear on the Legacy tab on the ribbon.

Having said that, there are also some tools that don't work very well or at all in the newer 64-bit versions of MapInfo Pro. But I would always suggest that you give it a try.
